Character Design - Fire Lily - part 2

Image

This time, instead of oil brushes, I'll be using air brushes for the coloring. Hopefully this will provide me with some learning experience(s) before I attempt scenery with airbrushes.

For the base skin, I used Fine Air air brush and used Tapered Detail Air air brush for the base hair. I'll finish the rest of the color sometime tomorrow (well... when I wake up, since it's already 1a EST here.)

Character Design - Fire Lily part 1

ImageOriginal Character  Character Design

Character: Fire Lily

Wanted to try my hand at drawing in different angles as well as create a character design template/layout/(what's the actual term?) for my characters in a graphic novel-fanfiction I've been working on.

One day I'll try to make that fan fiction into something I could call my own without copyright issues haha.

Line art :

Coloring will be done tomorrow, possibly. I'll be trying out a different brush this time.

ideas

Was thinking about possible splash arts of scenery and realized I had plenty to try to draw from imagination.
All of these are from my graphic novel (which is a fan fiction) I'm working on:
- HQ on island with city in background and if possible in foreground if space permits
- HQ interior , specific common rooms
 - streets of city, or specific street to the fighting

The Sea is Like Music part 3 (final)

Realizing just now I've been naming the posts incorrectly. However, I still couldn't settle on the name, so really either could be the name for this artwork, hahaha.

Two versions:

With blue overlay to provide a 'cool aura':

Without the main (keyword, main) blue overly...:

Family Needs to Calm the Heck Down - a [short] comic

I actually rushed through this, so it's clearly not well done.
(Reason for rushing, it's thundering out and I don't know if the power will jump or not.)

Based on real life experience (today actually).

Character's shaded in and next up would be the water/sea/ocean.

Time to use my references!

The Sea is like Music part 1

Just base colors at the moment, though the blue for the water/sea/ocean was roughly filled in with changes in color choice. This is why you see a bit of a light blue at the top left corner.

Painter started spiking in terms of computer memory, so I quickly filled in the base colors before closing the program.

original sketch before this

Next  up would be secondary colors and shading if I get to the step.

PikaKoggie wallpaper part 2 (final)

I had to use a 3rd reference ( for the text box) on top of my other references mentioned in the previous post.

My friend is often known as being a Pikachu so in this wallpaper, it's a bit of a play on her character. Kog`maw, being her favorite champion in League of Legends, was the next natural choice to draw. The reason the gift box is messy is due to Kog`maw 's gift wrapping skills :P

Done with Wet Grainy and Wet Oil oil brushes and Grainy Water blender. (Sketch done in 4H pencil.) Used mirroring to draw the border...and it still turned out badly ):

...Actually I'm going to fix it now.

/edit 10 mins later : fixed version; could not figure out what was needed to make a straight line...and when I did, I couldn't figure out how to cut off the tool.

Kogmaw - Pikachu gift giving wallpaper part 1

Planning on drawing a wallpaper/birthday gift for my friend. Was stuck between drawing Pikachu from Pokemon or Kogmaw from League of Legends... decided, why not both?

In California ...

In California currently,

"good "news: I'm drawing..

"bad" news: ... not via tablet.

I'm trying to keep my computer time limited mainly due to the fact I'm staying at a relatives' place and rather not increase their electric bill. With that in mind, I'm drawing all of my artwork on paper, in my sketchbook. In a way this is a good thing, I can reorganize how my characters will look like before I go and draw them digitally. Hopefully this will save me time and I'd be able to draw them a lot faster, thus making up for "lost time".

I'd be pretty much uploading things after I get back home on the 21st.

League of Legends fan art - Caitlyn & Cassiopeia - wild west style part3 (final)

It's already past 3am here; my fingers are cramping, particularly around the knuckle area...but I finally finished ! I would like to thank movies and amazing epic soundtracks for keeping myself awake this long.

I got a bit too ambitous and ended up finishing both Cassi and the background in one "day". (I had originally planned to finish Cassi yesterday and then finish the background later today.)

I can't remember when I started but I believe for today's amount of work I put into this, I spent around 12 hours worth on this (excluding dinner). This puts this work's total time at 20 hours.

Had I waited and done the background later today, it would have been much cleaner...maybe.

League of Legends fan art – Caitlyn & Cassiopeia – wild west style part2

Image

Finished coloring in Cait; took about 8 hours I think give or take 1-2 hours for lunch and dinner.

I couldn't get the colors right for the gold/creme details on her vest and armbands. The star was the hardest part.  I'm not pleased with how the star came out but this will have to do. (It's not exactly like how it looks in the reference I had).

Concept design - Hover Board

Though I'm not sure if I can call this concept design, I randomly made this while eating brunch. Originally it was suppose to be a penguin but the "wings" were way too long/low for a penguin. I then decided to make it into a bird, since it already had wings.. but once again I mess up and it didn't look anything like a bird anymore. Some way or another it slowly became like a craft and after putting in "details" such as:
  • indents for vents on the piece in the back
  • flat surface on the inside of the board (technically the top I suppose; where a person would stand)
  • the box like "nose" of the board
  • flattening the "wings" from the back sides; they were originally more round and "cylinder" like
  • several smoothing outs on the bottom of the board; closer to the nose and the wings
One day I'll probably make a 3-D digital version in Maya.
