Self portrait - cool color set
12:10 am pacific
Self portrait - cool color set
Done in gouache.
Original photo credit goes to Cheng Photography .
My shoulders are so stiff from working on this, and. On the warm color set portrait as we'll. on just the cool color set, I spent at least 8 hours on this. I wonder if the professor/instructor mentioned we would spend 20 hours on assignments because if so, I definitely either neared it or passed it. Super exhausted but nothing a hot shower can't fix or at least relax. My poor shoulders, carrying groceries on top of this assignment definitely will take its toll.

Corrections made and more painting!
12:12 am pacific
I realized, while trying to fall asleep that I messed up on the shadow for the creature on the sign. I fixed it earlier but only posting about it now since I'm taking a mini break from painting.
I finally got a chance to finish painting the self portrait. The warm color set is completed and I'll post a separate post for that as we'll as a separate post for the cool color set.

Odd Little Street - 1 point perspective , shaded
2:06 am pacific
Done with Prismacolor markers.
I gave myself so much confusion while working on this. I guess part of the reason is because of the rather unique shape of that sign with the creature on it. The shadow it casts is really odd too but that's because of the sign's location in relation to the artificsl/local light of the other sign in the street. I tried looking up references, tutorials, other people's works for hints or clues since my notes didn't have the rather unique set up I have.
Looking at it now, I should have moved that local light sign either higher or something different so the shadows weren't so odd on the sign.
One assignment down, 3 more to go after tomorrow's class.

Odd Little Street version 2.0 - 1 point perspective (WIP)
11:15 pm pacific
My initial 1-point perspective wasn't in complete perspective so edits were made.

You can probably see those orange lines all over the page. Those were the construction lines I drew for perspective purposes. Unfortunately, the copier only ignores blue colored pencils so the orange still showed on the copy. Even the copy of the copy had a little bit left over. But I wasn't going to copy the copy again... I felt a bit cheap at the moment.

Odd little street -1 point perspective - WIP
1:12 pm pacific
I didn't want it to be a overly simple boring street which was how it was turning out in the thumbnail despite the idea of madi gras.
With a suggestion of layout based off my thumbnail, I changed the flatness of my thumbnail into something different so each side of the street was a bit unique.

Drapery - attempt number one
7:36 pm pacific
After three weeks of working on a drapery life drawing, today's class was the last in class time we had on the drapery. We still have our 'at home' drapery assignment which began this week and that's another three weeks roughly.
In class drapery in real life ( altered exposure so shadows and highlights were visible and not washed out)

Sandpapering part of your finger's skin is no fun.
9:42 am Pacific
As the post title says, it really is no fun, especially if it's right where your thumb would usually hit on a surface or press down on. I didn't realize I actually scrapped off some skin until much after my class. During class, I felt the prick of the sandpaper into my thumb's skin but I disregarded it since I didn't see blood or anything like that. Then again, my fingers tips were covered in charcoal so I don't know if that's completely true then. It wasn't until after I cleaned as much charcoal off my hands (after class) that I realized there were 2-3 small dots under my thumb. I definitely need to put a band aid on it so I don't get more charcoal in/on it. I think I got most of it out though I'm worried that I didn't.
I'm (slowly?) trying to speed up my charcoal drawing times by not worrying about the details when I'm doing the gestural drawing part. So far, 2 out of the 4 drawings I've done, well latter 2, I feel like I sped up even if it's only a little bit.
I think I woke up a little now; I was so tired especially my eyes when I woke up around 7:30am today. The reason why I woke up early was not because of class but rather I had to print stuff out for my Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning class. I wanted to save on some money, though it's 10 cents to print black and white , since I already "wasted" 20-30 cents earlier in the week when I was trying to copy a drawing for class. If I head to a certain computer lab between 7 - 10 am, the printing has no cost, unlike the library.
I kind of want to play Dynasty Warriors Online again just to button smash. But apparently my old account (at least 2 years ago I was active on it) was blocked due to violating Terms of Service????? I wonder if it's because I haven't signed in for years? And apparently I can't send a Contact Us ticket, well looks like I won't play then.
There's always the games I have on Steam. And in the future, I can always buy a platform and the Dynasty Warriors platform game(s).
