7:56 pm EST
After an hour (more or less) break for dinner, I made the 2nd head. I pictured someone with messy hair and asked for a friend's input, who suggested slightly longer messy hair. I ended up asking more friends for input since I felt like there was something off. One friend mentioned the detail of the nose being too big or the mouth being too high up.

Head drawings - part 2
6:08 pm EST
Just a note, I'm only using one brush, brush size and color. Only things I'm changing are the opacity and pressure I put on the tablet pen.
First head done, more or less. He turned into a bald grumpy face head.
bald man, annoyed maybe because he's bald?

Head Face Drawings - sketch
5:28 PM EST
I realized I haven't drawn as many heads (that came out weird...) as I've wanted. So, in addition to drawing expressions, I've sketch up some random heads from different angles (mostly front or 3/4 view). For some reason, they all became male heads even though I was going to do a mix of male and female.

Scarf - part 4 (finished)
2:59 pm EST
I fixed up the hair ( made it darker and less reddish brown). Just for the sake of not having a pure white background, I decided to add a gradient in the back.
Originally I had the background as a blue gradient but it didn't look quite right, so I changed the hue to a yellow-brown-gold sort of gradient.
updated hair color and added background

Scarf - quick sketch
12: 33 Am EST
So instead of going to bed earlier, I ended up sketching the idea I had while I was walking outside earlier tonight. Originally it would have been me burying my nose under the scarf, but then it'd be a shame to hide the face I sketched...
quick sketch - under 30 mins ... I think?

11:29 pm EST
After experimenting with duplicating the base colors layer, I added an overlay layer for highlights, multiply layer for shadows, an additional layer for highlights (normal) and then proceeded to paint over the lines of the line art. The last layer I mentioned was roughly done but didn't turn out that badly, in my opinion.

10:09 pm EST
Originally I was going to go directly into the base colors after having finished the values a few days ago (a week?) but I realized the sketch layer wasn't going to be a good idea for use. As a result, I did a rough line art layer and then fixed up the values then moved on to the base colors.

Chief Chase - part 4 (more colors!)
10:16 pm EST
I started building up on the base colors I originally put down on the canvas. I still need to (at the very least) put one layer of overlays (highlights) and one layer of multiplies (shadows). I may have to go back and add more soft light layers for more color.... actually probably very likely.
more colors ~ and updated palette

Elf Warrior - part 2 (values)
10:04 pm EST
I think I took about 2 hours (after dinner + family needing to shop break) to put in the values. Something still bugs me about the values though... I'm not sure if it's the top of his hair or if it's the values on his right arm (image left).
something looks off to me in the values here...but I don't know what D:
1:26 AM EST
After getting some input & advice from friends, I re-did certain parts of the arms (for both arm) and re did the values for arms as well as increased the contrast.

Elf Warrior - part 1 (brainstorm, sketches, line work)
4:38pm EST
I got this idea from a word I drew for a friend in Draw Something. The word I had to draw was spear, of which I drew with a guy holding a spear pointed to the sides of the iPhone screen but the guy stood in the direction where only the back of him could be seen, except for his face which was looking in the direction of where the spear was pointed.
Originally I was going to re-create that in Photoshop but the sketch evolved, haha.
sketch /brainstorm with thought of recreating the drawing from Draw Something ...only for it to change as I was sketching.

entry for Draw my OC Contest – part 2 (color, background)
5:54 pm EST
Spent 4 hours (roughly ) coloring, shading and making up the background as I went. I guess roughly 5-6 hours for the whole drawing (brainstorm, sketch, line work and color).
That "box" was originally going to be a table or counter of some sort for him to lean on... then it became a box, with a pot/vase on it.

I really feel like the title will confuse someone so I'm going to explain. An OC is "original character" and a deviant on deviantART is holding a contest to draw his/her original characters. There are several to select from and participants can use any combination of those characters if they wish.
I decided to select the deviant's OC: Barbas (human form). Character is not mine but the design for the clothes is.

Lady Ribbon's Sword - part 1 (brainstorm, sketch)
4:20 pm EST
Originally I imagined a dagger as a weapon for the 6th concept art idea. But it looked too odd so I started sketching another weapon on the side, which at the time, was the idea of a sword plunged into the ground. That gave me an idea for another weapon, a large sword. I then customized it to match Lady Ribbon.
First was a dagger but it looked odd, what about a sword plunged into the ground?

I actually only had one part of the character developed and it was due to a random idea I got while I had my lanyard in hand. The concept was based off a key chain loop in my finger with the lanyard string attached and hanging off the loop.

clothes sketched in for front, flipped over on the right as a reference for sketching the back.

City chase - (part 1) Brainstorm and 'outline'
12:01 AM EST
Spent the past hour just drawing whatever for my brainstorm for my next landscape/scenery piece.
brainstorm - never really erasing (o_o)
When I finally let my "pencil" wander and figured out what I was going for, I outlined the specific lines I wanted from the brainstorm layer.
Outlining stuff from brainstorm

Lady Bird - (part 4) base colors and some shading
6:44 pm EST
I actually took a ~2 hour break after I put in the values (part 3).
For the most part, I finished the skin, eyes and mouth. I'm glad I fixed the eyes after realizing they were rather...odd. The fingers on the hand and the hair needs to be fixed since I'm not satisfied with it still. I'll get back to it either after dinner or after my friend's recital.

Vain Guy - part 7 - glazing experiment completed
Vain Guy – part 6 (glaze 6)
8:01 pm EST
I found out about "New Adjustment Layer" > "Hue/Saturation" in Photoshop. I feel so behind but 'better late than never' is what I always say. I always wondered how artists adjusted the Hue/Saturation for the whole image since I only found (just recently) about the Hue/Saturation window, which only applied to the specified layer.
Learning something new each day!
Here's what the image looks like so far, I'm planning on adding more define shadows to this though.
saturation +10, brightness +5
