A trip to the bookstore results in useful references!

Found some really useful tips from a few art technique books I read while at Barnes & Noble.

  • Ears aren't perpendicular to the head; more 3/4 (possibly less) on the sides

  • Females noses are ok with less detail; male noses should be more detailed

  • Studying human body muscles is a good idea... I'll have to look for more references for that.

  • The rib cage in the mannequin structure I've been using? Should be like a hollow egg/oval shape (front view)

  • Should try the heads count structure for heights (7 = super tall, 5 = petite )

  • Google SketchUp for landscaping/modeling/etc and it's FREE :D

  • Always remember that humans have a brow bone...

  • Females don't have as much (if any) of a chin protrusion as males

  • 3/4 view isn't as bad as it seems

  • Perspective views! Caution; if it looks realistic, always check the point of reference / in relation to another object. (Chest level of front subject in relation to eye level of back object, etc)
